README FILE FOR ROAD AMERICA UPDATE FOR ICR2/CART RACING BY PAPYRUS.

AN UPDATE FOR NON-RENDITION VERSIONS OF THE GAME.

JANUARY 28th 2002 (A Long Time from the beginning)
DISCLAIMER. I AM IN NO WAY ASSOCIATED WITH SIERRA, PAPYRUS, ROAD AMERICA.
I JUST LOVE THE GAME AND THE TRACK.

KNOWN BUGS.

1: The area around the Snap-on Bridge was one of the first things done so a few minor bleeding issues occur in some camera views in replays. This is probably a result of flavour 8 and camera angle combinations.

IT DOES NOT OCCUR FROM THE DRIVERS PERSPECTIVE AT RACE SPEED.

2: At some time during the update (and I am not sure, when hence it hasn't been corrected) three trees from around Turn 3 decided to start showing through the Turn 7 hill. Again this is minor at race pace as it is offline.

3: Some other trackside objects may bleed through the track boundaries if you end up near the walls facing the wrong way.

4: The new roadamer.txt moves the players car pit stall further up pit lane to the start finish line. The car's that pit immediately behind your car and the pace car pull straight into the fast lane when leaving their stalls so BEWARE. All the other cars behave normally.

AFTER I TAKE A BREAK FROM THIS TRACK AND COMPLETE SOME OTHER PROJECTS I MAY RETURN AND CORRECT THEM.

If you find any other Bugs that you feel need addressing or would like to pass on comments then you can email me at

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS.

YOU WILL NEED AT LEAST 25 MEG FREE SPACE FOR THE INSTALL TO RUN PROPERLY.

NOTE THAT THIS IS AN UPDATE FOR THE ELKHART LAKE TRACK NOT A COMPLETE TRACK.
THE TRACK SURROUNDS ARE STILL ALL GRASS!! THEY MAY LOOK DIFFERENT BUT IT WILL BEHAVE AS GRASS

a: Create a new directory in your ICR2/CART track sub directory called ROADAMER.
By creating a new directory you can compare the new track with the original and gauge the performance hit on your PC when running the track. If you notice a large frame rate hit over the original Elkhart track try decreasing the number of opponents seen ahead/behind and heard when driving in the OPTIONS menus or adjusting the other graphics options.

b: COPY "ALL" the following files from your Elkhart directory to the ROADAMER directory.

                     Elkhart.dat
                     Records.txt
                     Default.st1
All the .stg files (The garage settings that you use to adjust your car setup.)
All the .lp files (These control the behaviour of the computer cars.)
                     Perhaps your favourite Elkhart replay

NB>> COPY ONLY DO NOT MOVE THE FILES AS THE INSTALL DELETES EXCESS FILES FROM THE ROADAMER DIRECTORY.

c: Extract the contents of the Roadamer.zip to the ROADAMER directory.
d: Run the install.bat
e: Take a spin.
