* CARSHAPE INFO *
*****************

This package is an almost finished version (only the damage model missing)
of my second edited carshape, the Reynard carshape for IndyCar Racing II.
I created this carshape because I like this car very much and I wanted to try
to create a CART carshape myself. Because this is a BETA version, you may have
problems using this carset under some versions of ICR2. Please be understanding,
and have fun !

This is my second carshape created for IndyCar Racing II. This carset is
created from scratch, the only part that remained untouched is the helmet. I
created this carset based on the method I developed in the last few months.
I learned the file formats of the game from documents by Corey Rueckheim and
I made some clever tools to make my job easier. If you are interested in
making a brand new carset/carshape from scratch then visit my homepage in
the future, where I will put down my method, step-by-step, in a Carset Building
Guide. Until then, visit the SimCyberworld website for other editing stuff
and information.

This carset contains the 1999 CART version of the famous Reynard chassis
(originally: Reynard 99i), with original wings and all the details.

I have a plan, that after release this set, I will start working on a
2000 update (Reynard 2Ki chassis) which plans are ready on paper. That set
will be the Reynard2 carshape. It will not be a totally new carshape, I
just make some changes on objects of Reynard99 body. Why it is important?
I wanted to create a current carshape, but I was late by one year,
and I want to update my work. Here are the features:

- updated y2k front wings (for speedways and road tracks)
- updated y2k rear wings and Handford wing
- updated y2k sidepods and its wings
- updated y2k engine cover
- updated y2k top engine fin
- longer nose + shorter nosecone for better looking damage model
- nosecone antenne
- modified (sinked) cockpit interior
- anything else you would like to see...
(and of course I need a new PC too for y2k...)

Do not worry, I will not release a brand new carset each year, but if you
like to see some changes on the body, I will create the changes. If you
have any technical suggestions to this car, please write to me.

**************
* WHAT'S NEW *
**************

I added new, rounder front wheels, which was suggested by Timo Mantynen.
Both (front and rear) wheels have sinked, 3D rim design.

I added rear brakes air vents to the tail objects. Some other modifications
were also made on the tail objects. For example, the main shaft now covers
the rear shock bar in rear view.

I added my brand new BMW M3 pacecar for the set. I hope you will like it.
If not, you can go back to the original Camaro with a BAT-file.

I made modifications on the car after Junae Ludvig's suggestions. He said
he did not want any credit in this set, but he gave me some very good suggestions,
however I did not use all of them. Those I applied:
- thinner nose + nosecone
- thinner speedway front wing, and thinner road front wing spoilers
- Handford wing (rear wing for super speedways)
- rear brake air vents
- rear wings moved to forwarder position + modified rear wing spoilers

*********************
* THE NEW BMW PACER *
*********************

This pacecar represents the German highway interceptor policecar version
of the famous sportscar: BMW M3 1994 version (E36), which was elected the
BEST SPORTSCAR OF THE WORLD by famous car magazines after its strong engine
and high performance.

The car has flashing tail-lights too. For this, I must edit the flasher
object to have prior visibility. Therefore the flasher overlaps any other
parts of the car. It is not too irritating though.

**************
* KNOWN BUGS *
**************

The car is built around the wheels' position, so NO LF-WHEEL BUG, like
other edited carshapes. What is the LF-wheel bug ? When any of the cars
suffer damage on thie lf-wheel, the damage can be seen on all the cars.
The LF-wheel moves ahead to an idiot position.	This bug somehow overwrites
the car model in the memory and remains there until you reload the set.

Other than the above. There are polygon overlappings or bad transparencies:

At the back of the car: the gearbox/rear wheels section flash in at some
viewing angles. Side fins' outside panels on rear wings may overlap the
inside ones in ARCADE views. In the garage (I think about large zooms)
the transparency can be awful sometimes. Transparency awful on IN-CAR
view replay camera. Damaged nosecone looks from the cockpit as it would
be inside out.

On a damaged Roadcar, the top engine fin will disappear if you previously
added that part to the Roadcar model. On a damaged Indycar, the patched
Hanford wing will change into the original wing too.

It seems, this carset still does not work in the Rendition version game.

* SPECIAL INFOS FOR CAR PAINTERS *
**********************************

The Reynard 99 carshape uses some different colors than the original carsets.
You can easily paint the underbody colors in Paintkit, on another carset.
When you finish, I advise for best graphical result, change some colors
in the carname.3do files after the next list. Some polygons which color
is not changable (like mirror screen, suspension arms, skirts...), are
optimized to have new colors also as follows. The new colors are:

index meaning in the Reynard carshape	new color
-------------------------------------------------------------------
1 01h top-side panel of cockpit headrests	you choose *
3 03h side mirror you choose *
12 0Ch engine air intake front panel 33 21h
16 10h side of cockpit you choose
19 13h panel behind driver's head 33 21h
22 16h back part of sidepod top panel you choose *
23 17h sidepod wing's base and flap you choose *
24 18h sidepod wing's sidefins you choose *
25 19h rear wings base (only in mirror view)	28 1Ch
26 1Ah vertical top-side panel of tail	you choose *
27 1Bh general darkgrey 1 27 1Bh *
28 1Ch general darkgrey 2 28 1Ch *
29 1Dh general darkgrey 3 29 1Dh *
30 1Eh general darkgrey 4 30 1Eh *

*: I reserved these colors to a different polygon than originally
The tail's top-side panel is that new vertical plate where the
rear suspension-arms and rear shock-bar attached.

When you finish the template drawing, fill the surroundings of template
areas with the same color as that area's color. This is needed to have
fine looking car when it looks small in the game. In this case the
surrounding color is visible sometimes, so fill the surroundings with
a similar color than that area's color. See the Ganassi car demo texture
as example. Of course if the car is not one-colored like the Ganassi car,
you can use more colors to cover the template area surroundings.

* SPECIAL INFOS FOR CARSET EDITORS *
************************************

Something totally new in editing history ! I do not want to hide and
keep in secret the editing stuff of this carset, and all the knowledge I
collected during making this carshape.	If you are a talented editor and
want to create something new from my carshape I will help you. It means I
can provide the source code, to anybody, of the files and scanned plans, just
give me a few days for scanning, and full credit in your work.

I will not post these infos on my homepage as I have limited free space,
so ask for the stuff in a dear message, hehe. If you want to make e.g. a
new IRL chassis from the Reynard, the way is clear, I will help you as much as
I can. Just let me know, to what kind of project you want to extend the
Reynard carshape and what help you needed for the success.

Let's work together on raising THE CART SIM to even higher heights!

**************
* AT THE END *
**************

Well, I hope lots of people will enjoy this carset, and it will inspire
them to make new improvements for our loved ICR2. If you created any
improvements regarding to this carset (new engine sound, cockpit, individual
cars or carset, racing league...) write me please. I would be very glad
if I could see, those plenty hours of working on this carset were worthy,
and I could add a link to my homepage to your project.
Thanks in advance.

Sorry, this document became very long again... anyway, I hope I put down
everything important. Other information may appear on my homepage. If you
have any comments mail me. My current address is szikszo@engineer.com.
Have good races in the new Reynard...
